Fiera Milano 2012

This year’s international furniture exhibition in Milano showed that design turns inwards – it reveals its structure, explores the birth of the idea about itself, its amenability and dependence on other materials and objects.

A lot of NENDO

Japanese fine taste, recommended in abundant doses. In Palazzo Visconti, the Visible Structures collections – discrete furniture, made of foam, reinforced by carbon strip. Farming-net objects – traditional paper lanterns, interpreted in farming net. And four more collections – exquisite spiderwebs of optical effects.

The essence on a cabinet or a clock

A nod to the old German stylistics. Studio Job’s Altdeutsche Moebel poetically tells about the beauty and mystery of life. Roses, skulls, keys, dice. Clovers and tangled ornaments, unleash our imagination, and Marcel Wanders’ presence enhances this effect.

Catalano’s Watershed

Architects Doriana and Massimiliano Fuscas developed the Impronta collection (washbasin and shower) for Catalano. Streamlined shape, surface, as if modelled by waterflow. You will fall in love at first sight.

Fusion by Nendo

For the first time this year, the Japanese studio Nendo created a collection for Bisazza. It was presented in an installation, reminding of a transparent glass-ceramic house, together with Marcel Wanders’ and Jaime Hayon’s collections.

Kartell’s Remake

You almost want to start designing, while at Kartell’s stand. The concept was Work in Project and it showed in sketches and prototypes the birth of ideas. Enchanging! Kartell presented a remake of the classic 4801 armchair by Joe Colombo by Joe Colombo, first manufactured in 1965 by Kartell, as a homage to one of Company’s first designers. This is the only product that has always been made of wood, because the technology makes it impossible to make it out of plastic. In its new version, it is made entirely of plastic.

Finishing in the Underground

We descended 20 m underneath Earth’s surface– a metaphor of the path to the true self and becoming to know fears. At the end of the journey – the Garden of Eden with the gigantic prototypes. The transition into bliss revealed Gessi‘s Private Wellness concept and the new iSpa line. The emotion of the presentation party was so strong that after that we passed through Milano still wearing our helmets.
