Transparent minds

How several turquoise and purple glasses, found at the Murano Island, became key to the development of an entire interior design for an apartment – the story of this apartment, overlooking the Sofia roofs, resembles the unraveling of a ball of desires, expectations and a feel of fusion.
After talking about functional and stylistic requirements, regarding the space, the conversation accidentally meandered towards family’s favorite glasses, made of colorful Murano glass. Transparence, decorative appearance, expressive Venetian hues, reflections, the presence of the legend of the past and contemporary stories. Luckily, we had the chance to get involved at a very early stage of building’s construction and implement our solution for complete absence of barriers between the entrance area, the lounge, kitchen and dining-area, without having to demolish any already built walls. Fluidity visually increases the volume and the influx of natural light. The architectural solution, regarding the specific spatial line and the logic of the apartment filly conforms to the sense of comfort of its inhabitants. The deep beauty of wood and stone is combined with the transparence of the furniture and accessories, made of glass and plexiglass. It, on its part is in line with the expressive manner, in which the plush upholstery, silk curtains, textile wallpapers and pearl ceilings react with light.

Lounge area

An accent in the cozy interior design of the lounge area are the Globe sofas by Carlo Colombo for Moroso, upholstered in turquoise plus. The characteristic tonal expressiveness of interior here is caused by the contact of this color and the purple hues. These are observed along the fabric wallpapers, silk curtains, Kartell’s plexiglass table Tip Top. In the foreground– the lamp with Giova based by Gae Aulenti, design 1964 for Fontana Arte. The design choice to omit centrally positioned lamps, in order to enhance the impact of the decorative character of the space.

Working area

The lounge also accommodates a minute working area. The French antique armchair has modern striped silk upholstery, owners’ personal finding. The colorful Murano glasses are their favorite souvenir from their trip to Venice, which also proved to be key for the development of the entire interior design. Ceilings are processed, according to a special technology, with pearl-effect paints, emphasized by the concealed linear lighting.

In front of Kartell’s La Boheme sofa in a purple hue, a number of light and mobile tables replace the traditional low lounge table and infuse the space with elegant flexibility. The jewel-like “frosted” tables Т-Table by Patricia Urquiola for Kartell exquisitely contrast the solid appearance of the silk and the plush upholstery.

Kitchen

The kitchen is made of solid oak in natural colors by the Italian makers Euromobil. The dark granite countertop, in contrast with the overall light colors of the area, resemble leather at touch, which is due to the specific processing of the stone. The Romeo Louis lamp by Flos overhanging the dining table is made of manually engraved crystal. White table Luciano Zontа. Kartell’s mustard-colored Masters chairs, the accessories in bright yellow and the picture, brough home by the owners from Cuba, are the sources of the emotion here.

Parents’ bedroom

Intimate and gently inhibited, parents’ bedroom is colored in aquamarine, light-grey, white with some purple accents. The padded bed with containers, the bedside tables and padded sliding doors of the built-in wardrobe are all designed by the Studio. The embroideries on the fabrics and the lavish ornamentation of Chelini’s classic chair, manually carved by the masters of the Florentine workshop, give a charming pleasurable look to the pure modern line in the individual interior design.

View from the bathroom towards the boudoir nook, separated from the bedroom only by a curtain. Catalano’s washbasin is positioned on a large onyx countertop. The lavishly carved mirror frame from Artеlinea corresponds to the floral elements on the lamp above the washbasin.

Guest bathroom

The guest bathroom is furnished with Bisazza glass-ceramics in two colors. The circle pattern is repeated both in the decoration of the glass-ceramics, and in the vintage mirror with metal studs Ego Stud Mirror, design by Diesel for Moroso, the Catalano silver washbasin and the small illuminated Flos spheres.

Children’s room

The little girl’s bedroom is light and enchantingly ethereal – in soft light-blue hues for the walls and curtains, and pink for the bed fabrics. The Alice table, designed by Marcel Wanders for Bisazza, and Kartell’s colorful mini-chairs Lou Lou Ghos firmly declare the space children’s territory in this apartment, with reference to a magical interior design.
