Exchange of creative experience and designer inspirations – this is how we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the most significant international furniture exhibition Salone del Mobile.

The Pure Design Day event

Gessi Academy invited architects, designers and artists from all over the world, to show all of them its ideas, philosophy, company, showroom, but first of all – its people, for it firmly believes that on order to know the true value of a product, one must thoroughly analyse it. Knowing what stands behind a product and what is its manufacturing process is key for understanding that a product’s value does not come solely from its design, technology and aesthetics.

Salone del Mobile

As a sign that we may be on the threshold of the post-recession era, manufacturers, such as Kartell and Flos did not save on any expenses, when designing and building their large and complex stands to show their new products. Kartell’s stand was well-deservedly named the best stand at this year’s fair.

Moroso & Diesel

The Italian manufacturer Moroso has always impressed with its ideas. Therefore their stand at the furniture exhibition was one of those that attracted the largest number of visitors. Moroso is an embodiment of the culture of 'doing things and doing them well'. Since 2009 Moroso cooperates with Diesel on collections, inspired by the informal, but modern way of life. The result is the “Successful Living”, a series of collections with clearly manifested easy and comfortable appearance. The collection focuses on simple shapes, while reflecting the modern sense of style, combining high quality and distinctive design and smooth lines.

Fuori Salone

If an event takes place outside the trade fair, it is referred to as a “Fuori Salone“ (from Italian - fuori = outside), a term, which has become official with time. What is interesting is that “Salone“ and “Fuorisalone“ are not in conflict – on the contrary, they complement each other, showing different interpretations of contemporary design. If you really need to choose either Salone or Fuorisalone, choose the latter. It is at least as intriguing, but much more democratic and liberal. The sole price you may be asked to pay is the queue within the queue to see the exhibition.
