At home in Sofia

The general feel of this interior, from the very entrance, is that of a modern interpretation of beloved archetypes, which are subconsciously connected to the concept of home.
The owner of this apartment, situated at one of the beautiful old aristocratic streets I Sofia, purchased it as a second home, to spend the winter months of the year. During the warmer periods, she resides outside of the city. When she approached us to assign us with the interior design of her apartment, she shared with us that it was important for her to feel “at home in Sofia“.

The space revolves around a single center – in this case – the kitchen. The project implementation required a significant reconstruction. The kitchen, which was situated in a separate room, without any direct connection to the living-room and dining-room was moved, and its former place was taken by the children’s room, where the owner welcomes her favorite grandchildren, when they come to visit. The condition of the apartment made it necessary to remove almost everything there – flooring, windows, electricity, water-supply and sewerage systems. The decorative plaster ornaments on the ceilings were preserved.

The kitchen

The heart of this apartment is the spacious kitchen and dining-area, occupying the central position therein. Designed in the complex color corda – light-brown with greenish hues, the kitchen furniture was procured from the Italian makers Euromobil, and the model follows a discrete classical vision. The solid walnut table and dining chairs are owner’s personal antique-shop finding.

Lounge area

View of the sitting area from the dining-room. The light oak floor, the soft pastel hues of the walls, carpet and curtains, ensure the tranquility and coziness of the lounge. The desiree sofa and accent armchair form both a relaxation area and a TV-watching area. The bookcase, as well as the TV wall are integrated into a complete structure, made in Bulgaria to the interior design of our Studio.

The bedroom

Moss green and latte dominate the cozy interior design of the bedroom, chosen here, to bring repose to owner’s personal space. The antique chair is placed here in a new context. The lamps from Flos’s K-tribe collection modernize the space and show how one part tradition and one part design icons, can prove a successful recipe for the interior.

Children’s room

It proved to be natural, fresh modern and fun – a specifically sought-after result of the assigned task. The two-level bed, the storage system and desk were all made by a Bulgarian company. The focus in the fresh interior design of the children’s room are Kartell’s lamps.

The bathroom

The tiny bathroom is visually enlarged by the light, large-size San’t Agostino granitogress tiles, used both for the floor and the walls. The Novellini shower cabin, the iNova bathroom cabinet and mirror complement the interior of the bathroom.
